Volunteer Information

We are currently seeking dedicated volunteers from the community to assist with the hosting of 2008 Skate America.  Our volunteers’ efforts and commitments are vital to the success of this event.

Previous figure skating competition experience is welcomed, but not required to fill volunteer positions.  Instead, we are looking for those individuals who are quick with a smile, an offer of assistance, and a real passion

to be ambassadors to this event and the Pacific Northwest.

To be a volunteer, you must:

  1. be 18 years of age or older
  2. be available for a minimum of two six-hour shifts, between October 22 and October 26, 2008
  3. attend a mandatory training session in September, 2008
  4. consent to and pass a criminal background check
  5. complete the downloadable Volunteer Form

As a volunteer, you will:

  1. be given volunteer apparel, which you are expected to wear at all times during your volunteer shift
  2. receive event credentials that you are to wear during your volunteer shifts
  3. be expected to maintain a professional attitude at all times (refrain from speaking to athletes, coaches, or officials unless required by your volunteer role)
  4. not ask for autographs or carry a camera during your official duties as a volunteer
  5. direct all questions to event organizers, Laura Lee or Steve Baker
  6. agree to remain in your assigned areas and not invite anyone else to accompany you on your volunteer shift
  7. be responsible for your own meals, although a volunteer comfort station with some supplies will be made available
  8. be responsible for your own transportation and housing, if necessary.

Volunteers do not have assigned seats for the event.  If a session is not sold out, then a bronze section (upper bowl) will be designated on a first-come, best-seat-available basis for volunteers.  Please do not count on this section for all events.

If you have further questions regarding volunteers, please contact Pam Dawson (email: volunteersa2008@charter.net).
